Kingsland Girl Guiding Gets Fit With Kingspan Grant
Kingsland Brownies and Guides are looking forward to plenty of fresh air and exercise this year thanks to grants from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust.
Total funding of just over £2000 was supplied to the two groups following their applications to the trust for outdoor equipment. The money has been used to purchase camping equipment for the Guides and a Parachute for the Brownies as well as an outdoor recreation session at Oaker Wood Leisure.
Val Davis, district leader for the groups said ”We applied to the Community Trust as this equipment is very expensive and would have been hard to fund ourselves.”
She added “Both the equipment and the outdoor recreation day are enabling us to encourage the girl’s to work together as a team whilst keeping them fit and healthy. The parachute which can be used both indoors and out has been a huge hit with the Brownies providing hours of fun and exercise.”
Being a Girl Guide is all about learning new skills, making your own decisions and having fun and the Kingsland Brownies and Guides have been around for over 20 years and currently have a combined total of 50 members with many more waiting to join.
John Garbutt, chairman of the Trust said; “This Brownie and Guide group is thriving and the new equipment will help them to enjoy and experience the great outdoors. It is pleasing that so many young people are benefiting from the Trust. “
